Finding a Way to Play: The Pioneering Spirit of Women in Basketball

Finding a Way to Play is a book for young adults and people of all ages looking for stories about strong, independent women from all walks of life who have overcome societal challenges and personal struggles to play a game they love.
Finding A Way To Play won a silver medal at the INDIEFAB Book Awards competition in 2015 and a second place award at the Independent Publisher of New England annual conference in 2016. It was also a finalist at the Tucson Festival of Books.
The author, Joanne Lannin has been honored by the New England Women’s Press Association and the Maine Press Association for her work as a sportswriter. She is a member of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance and the Association for Women in Sports Media. She writes a blog about women’s basketball at www.findingawaytoplay.com. Joanne graduated from Rockland High School where she played basketball on two undefeated league championship teams in 1968 and 1969. She also played basketball at the University of New Hampshire. Joanne teaches English and Journalism at Bonny Eagle High School in Standish Maine.
